I am writing on data recovery process which are followed by most of the server recovery companies and it is difficult to get data from a formatted disk with out the help of data recovery company or software.

HDD Not Found/Data Recovery?
When I switch on my computer, I get a “Please Insert Bootable Disk and Press Enter” error message. The drive is detected (it is shown in the boot sequence with the correct name/size etc). I took the drive out of my computer and have tried it in both a USB-IDE drive and as an IDE slave in another computer. When connected to the USB drive, it shows up as a “Mass Storage Device”, and contains all the correct information about the drive, however, doesnt show in my computer as a logical drive. en connected to an IDE port it freezes my computer after loading the MUP.SYS driver.
I have tried another drive in the initial computer, and it finds, and attempts to boot of it.
I had made no changes to my computer, or installed/removed any software or hardware, this just seemed to happen over night.
I appreciate that this probably means my HDD is dead, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could recover the data stored on the disk, without spending a fortune?

Download Knoppix, and create a live CD with the iso file.

All you do is put the CD in, restart the computer, and if your hdd is mechanically sound, it will display it on the desktop.
Click as usual to go through your documents, and what I usually do is insert a large jump drive (4 gb) and copy the files directly there.
Knoppix is a Linux OS, runs off of the CD…doesn’t load any files on the computer.
