Label Faster & Mail Smarter With A Dymo Label Printer

The Dymo Labelwriter 450 Turbo is a very attractive little label printer that also has DYMO Label V8 labeling software on a CD. This printer only runs with a mains power adaptor. A USB cable, a quick start guide, a roll of 35 x 90 mm address labels and a head cleaning card are all shipped with this label printer.

The Dymo Label V8 software is user friendly and very pleasant to look at. The layout consists of the design window to the right, the usual formatting icons at the top, and three tab selections to the left. These options will allow you to design and print address and shipping labels, CD label that will cover one third of the CD, file folders, badge label, and a variety of multi-purpose labels, even a label for the VHS spine.

Another of the tabs provides you with all the objects that you need to design your label from scratch. This printer allows you to import addresses from your email address book. It also has an automatic counter for your serial numbering. There is a date/time stamp in either the 12 or the 24 hour clock format. A barcode stamp with eighteen different barcode formats is included.  There is a static text box for your fixed text. You can insert shapes, such as a square, oblong, circle, oval, horizontal or vertical line or do a range of different line thicknesses or grayscale interior fills with the shape object. The image object will even allow you to insert a picture file or the Window’s clipboard. Included in this printer software is the circular text object which allows your text to be put into an arc formation. Last, but not least, there is a gallery of 94 symbols for easy access.

There is very little bad to say about this printer because of the great job that it does. The size of the font runs from the tiny four point to the maximum of whatever size will fit into the label you are designing. As far as the speed of this Dymo Labelwriter 450 Turbo, it is awesome.  It can print ten typical labels in twelve seconds, but if you deduct the two seconds of download time the total speed of the printer is one label per second!

A serrated blade is provided for a clean and good tear-off instead of an electric cutter. Another feature that is provided in this printer is the back-feed button which makes it easier to disengage the label before removing the roll from the printer. There is not an on/off switch. The only way to switch it on and off is by switching the mains adaptor but a “low power” mode will kick in after a period of not in use. This printer is so simple that it doesn’t require a user manual. There is only a quick start guide and the software that gives you extensive help files.  This printer seems to be the best user- friendly label printer.

How do I switch my printer to the photo paper?

I have a HP Photosmart C7200 All-in-One and Vista. I’m using Picasa to edit my photos, but whenever I go to print I can’t get it to use the photo paper instead of the normal paper. I loaded it correctly, I just don’t know how to switch it over.

Go in the printers setup menu before printing and select HP glossy paper. Note that you can also do nice print even if you just choose normal mode in printing. Because you are using glossy paper, the print will come out just like as if you had chosen glossy paper. No difference actually.

Just print normal, and don’t use high output or BEST. Select normal print.
